Part of the challenge lies in letting patrons know what else, besides books, they can get, Wilmington Memorial Library Director Tina Stewart said.
A national survey released earlier this year by the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project found that 91 percent of respondents said libraries are important to their communities, but 31 percent said they knew not much or nothing at all about what the libraries had to offer.
“So many people that we find just aren’t even aware of the services we offer,” Stewart said. “We’re not the library of 10 years ago. We’re changing.”
